The New CNBC.com

CNBCMichael from Techcrunch found another gem - On December 4, 2006 CNBC will be re-launching their website. As Techcrunch reported earlier today, the CNBC site has been offline for the past 6 months due in part to an expired 5 year deal with Microsoft.

I look forward to this new release from an old media giant. With plenty of video content in archive and continuous live news the site could be a great resource for on demand financial information. In addition, the landing page highlights personalized tools, integrated charts and analysis.

When pre-registering for the 12.04.06 release I noticed this field in the sign-up form:

Screen Name:
This is how you will be publicly identified on the site (i.e. blog postings)

It will be interesting to see how CNBC will incorporate user “blog postings” within the site. Will visitors be able to blog and comment on videos? Discuss stock portfolios? Overall, CNBC should benefit if the site is designed well with new Web 2.0 open community image.

(Note: users that pre-register can import their MSN Money portfolio)

CNBC Registration

If you have a portfolio at MSN Money, you can now add it to cnbc.com so it will be waiting for you on December 4th. Your Portfolio will still be available on MSN Money, but now you’ll be able to take full advantage of all the personalized tools at cnbc.com and always be on top of what matters most to you.
